岩手県へ行ってきました！ Went to Iwate Prefecture!

４月２７日からの３連休に、岩手県を旅しました。

 まず世界遺産に登録された平泉へ！金色堂も素晴らしかったけど、私が一番心ひかれたのはこの石仏。陽を浴びた穏やかな表情といい、ちょっと傾いた座り方といい、たまりません！

I went to Iwate Prefecture for 3-day weekend starting on April 27.  First, I visited Hiraizumi, the  registered World Heritage site.  Golden Hall of Chuson-ji temple was of course breath-takingly gorgeous, but what I liked best was the stone statute in the picture left.  His calm face under the sun shine and the way he sits, slightly slanting, are so charming!

宿泊先は花巻。左の写真はイギリス海岸ですが、行ってみたら普通の川でした。砂利が海岸のように広がるのは真夏だけのようです。でも穏やかで、桜並木が美しい、素敵なところでした。

We stayed at Hanamaki.  The river in the picture is Igirisu Kaigan, English coast.  Actually, it's just a noraml river and we cannot see the pebble which I suppose appear in summer.  But it's a calm, beautiful place with a row of blooming cherry trees.

２日目は釜石へ。
津波の爪痕が生々しく、復興はこれから、というかんじでしたが、花巻へ戻る前に昼食として食べた「釜石定食」おいしかった～。特にお刺身が。

On the second day, we went to Kamaishi, where the damage of Tsunami is still visible.  There seems to be much to do for reconstruction.  After sadness, we enjoyed Kamaishi lunch before leaving.  Sashimi was especially good!

最終日は東北の三大桜の名所の一つ、北上で満開の桜を堪能しました。
東北の桜は高さが低く、手が届くところ、目の高さで花が楽しめるのがいいですね。

On the last day, we went to Kitakami, one of three most beautiful spots for cherry blossom in Tohoku area, to enjoy full blossom. 
As cherry trees in Tohoku are short, we can enjoy blossome in our reach and in front of our eyes. 

最後は花より団子、ならぬカレー。北上のレストハウスで食べたカレーはどれも具だくさんで美味しかったです。
私が頼んだ菜カレーは大きな、揚げ野菜がゴロゴロ入っている上にお吸い物、ヨーグルトまで付いて、もうおなか一杯。夫が頼んだかきカレーには三陸産のカキが、やっぱりゴロゴロ入っていて美味でした。

Well, we enjoyed food rather than blossom at last.
We enjoyed curry at the rest house in Kitakami.  In vegetable curry I ordered, there were big, fried vegetables with even soup and yogult.  My stomach was more than full.

In oyster curry my husband ordered, there were also big, fried oyster produced from Sanriku.  It was very tasty.

1日神戸 One Day in Kobe

東京に４１年ぶりに雪が降った４月１７日、私は凍える寒さの東京を脱出して春爛漫の神戸へ。素晴らしい陽気と緑の中で、異人館めぐりをしました。夫が結婚式に出席するのに便乗して半日だけの観光でしたが、１０年ぶりに従姉と会えたし楽しい１日でした。東京の皆さん、ごめんなさい。
On April 17, when it snowed in Tokyo, I got out of freezing city to spring warm, sunny Kobe.  I visited foreigners set up houses in beautiful, fresh air and green.  I just followed my husband who had to visit Kobe to attend his colleague's wedding, and enjoyed sightseeing for only several hours, but I enjoyed my stay in Kobe very much because I saw my cousin whom I hadn't seen for 10 years.  Sorry for people in Tokyo.

上高地 Kamikochi Hike

シルバーウィークの最終日は上高地の合羽橋から明神橋へ、往復２時間のハイキングを楽しみました。時折小雨のぱらつくあいにくの天気でしたが、黄色く色づき始めた森と清澄な空気を堪能しました。
On the last day of the Silver Week, we enjoyed 2-hour hike in Kamikochi, Nagano Prefecture, from Kappa bridge to Myoujin bridge. Thought it's rather a bad weather with a spatter of rain, we enjoyed trees that started to color and clear air.

広島への旅

１泊２日で広島へ行ってきました。

第一の目的は平和公園を訪れること。

思ったより小さい、という声も耳にした原爆ドームはしかし、魂を揺さぶる声を上げていました。

資料館はとにかく大変な人の数で、じっくり見ることが出来ず残念。でも多くの人、とりわけ外国人の姿も多く、が訪れるということはいいことだ、と納得。

We went to Hiroshima for an overnight trip.

Our objective was to visit Hiroshima Peace Memorial.

I heard some people say, "it's smaller than I thought," but to me, Atomic Bomb Dome cried out something very powerful.

It's a pity that we couldn't see exhibit carefully in the Museum due to so many people, but I convinced myself that it's good to have so many people, expecially people from abroad, here.

広島に到着してまず「お好み焼き」（広島の人は「広島風」と言うのを嫌うそうです）を食べました。名物の牡蠣も乗った豪華版で美味しかったけど、私にはちょっとソースが甘かったかな。。。

Before going to Peace Park, the first thing we did in Hiroshima was to eat Okonomiyaki, Hiroshima-style pancake containing noodle, cabbage, eggs, seafood, pork and oyster. It was gorgeous and tasted good, but sauce was too sweet to me.

平和公園を後にした後は厳島神社へ行き、まだ少し時間があったので岩国の錦帯橋まで足を伸ばしました。思ったより壮麗でよかったです。写真は娘と私の後姿。私はン十年ぶりに自作したスカートを穿いています。ウエストゴムでオバサンの旅には楽チン便利でした。

After Peace Park, we visited Itsukushima Shinto Shrine. As we still had time, we went to Iwakuni to see Kintaikyo Bridge. That was far grand and beautiful than I imagined. The picture shows my daughter and I walking on the bridge. I wore the skirt I made for the first time in decades. Its elasticized waistband is comfortable and convenient for obasan like me during the trip.

２日目は江田島の旧海軍兵学校を見学。美しく凛とした構内で、戦争についてさまざまなことを考えさせられました。

On the second day, we visited the Old Imperial Naval Academy. In beautiful, magnificent site, I contemplated many aspects of war.

てーげーの会合宿

神奈川県の清川村で行われた三線のテーゲーの会の合宿に行ってきました。と言っても、メインは午後５時半から翌朝４時まで続く宴会。かぎやで風から始まって延々１時ごろまで沖縄の歌と踊りが披露されました。中には写真のように三線を後ろ向きに弾く、というウチナーンチュの私が見たこともない芸（照屋林助の得意芸だったようです）も飛び出し、まったく凄まじい宴会でした。

I joined an overnight training of Sanshin (Okinawan guitar) by Tege-no-kai. But main event was a banquet from 5:30pm - 4:00am. Okinawan dance and songs were performed till 1:00am and in the picture in left, players played sanshin backward. Though they say it's Rinsuke Teruya's specialty, I've never seen it before. They are all non-Okinawans. What a banquet!

夏休み

	沖縄到着後本部へ直行、最初の晩はOn the Beach Lue で並里家とバーベキューの予定。ちょっと早く着いたので目の前のビーチを散歩したのですが、やっぱり我慢できずズボンをたくし上げて海に入りました。気持ちいい！ We headed Motobu right after arrival at Okinawa. We planned BBQ with Namisato family at On the Beach Lue. As we arrived a little earlier, we walked on the beach and we could not help rolling up our pants and walk in the ocean. It was so refreshing.
	ルーでバーベキューは初めてでしたが、一人前1,800円でボリュウムたっぷり。最後のおにぎりは食べられませんでした。 It was our first BBQ there, and it cost 1,800 yen per person with a lot of food. I couldn't eat rice ball after all.
	二日目は渡具地港から高速艇で水納島へ。一日曇りで時折スコールのあいにくの天気でしたが、パラセーリングに挑戦しました。ちょっと恐かったけど、面白かった～。 On the second day, we rode high-speed craft to Minna Jima. It was cloudy all day long with squall once in a while, but we tried parasailing. It was a little scary, but much fun!
	水納島の帰りに、並里哲子さん運営の本部町産業支援センター「アジマーもとぶ」へ。お店としてまだ整っていませんが、いいものがいっぱい。お土産を沢山買いました。美味しいアセロラミルクアイスクリームもご馳走になりました。 On the way going back from Minna Jima, we visited a souvenir shop "Ajima Motobu" run by Tetsuko Namisato. The shop is not completed yet, but full of good stuff. I bought a lot of souvenir and she treated us yummy acerola icecream.
	夏休み４日目はお盆の中日で姪っ子の誕生日。おじいちゃんたら、エイサー呼んじゃったよ。庭に入ったのは４人だったけど家の周りに８０人！びっくりしました～。 The fourth day of our vacation is the middle of Obon festival and my little niece's birthday. MY gush, my father-in-law called Eisa dancers at home. Only four dancers danced in the garden, but there were about 80 more dancers outside. what a surprise!
	沖縄最後のお昼は空港のA&Wでハンバーガーと決まっているのですが、今回はどうしてもゴーヤーバーガーが食べたくて、JFまで行ってきました。思っていた以上にゴーヤーがぎっしり詰まっていて、ゴーヤーリングも美味しかったです。 We always eat A&W's humburger for our last lunch at the airport, but this time, my husband and I were dying to eat goyaburger. So we went to JF to eat it. It had much goya than I expected and goya rings were also good.

日光の緑

ゴールデンウィーク最終日は日光で過ごしました。本当に緑がきれいで癒されました。そこで思い出した一句。

We spent our last two days at Nikko City. Green is so beautiful all over that we felt much comforted. I remembered haiku by Junko Hashimoto as follows:
Mountains are laughing all over to foot

韓国のチョコレート菓子

韓国で、始め人間みたいなパッケージが面白くて買ったお菓子です。日本語OKの店員さんに聞いても「チョコレートよ～」と言うばかりでよく分からなかったのですが、石器みたいな形のマーブルチョコです。赤っぽいのはトウガラシが入っているかも、と緊張して食べてみましたが、全部普通にチョコレートでした。

Chocolate we bought in Soeul just because its package looked interesting. As we don't understand Hangeul, we never knew what it was, and a shop lady who was supposed to speak Japanese only repeated, "It's chocolate." Well, it's like marble chocolate shaped in stone. I was anxious if reddish one has hot pepper in it, but it's as sweet as other ones.

行って来ました！ソウル

４月３日から６日まで、韓国に行って来ました。今回の旅の大きな目的は板門店ツアーに参加すること。JSAでおなじみのこの場所は、建物の向こう側が北朝鮮、こちら側が韓国ということになっています。背景の立派な建物は北朝鮮のもの。

We went to South Korea on April 3 through 6. Main event in this trip is to participate a tour to Panmunjeon. In this place, familiar on the movie JSA, the other side of the buildings is North Korea and the front side, South Korea. Magnificent building in the other side belongs to North Korea.

A guarding South Korean soldier. Each one of them is young and handsome.　Distant landscape is a propaganda village in North Korea.

帰らざる橋。ここで北に行くかそれとも南かを選択した捕虜は、もう反対側へは戻れないことから。

A bridge of no return. Once a prisoner of war decided to go north or south, he could never return to the other side.

２日目の朝食はホテルの外でお粥にチャレンジ。日本語OKの食堂で、味付けもおそらくかなり日本人好みにしてあるのでは、と思いました。

あまりにも美味しくて、翌日もここでお粥。

We tried rice porridge on the second day for a breakfast. We can make an order in Japanese and I guess they changed the taste more favorable for the most Japanese. It was so good that we went there again next morning.

日本が植民地時代に作った西大門刑務所跡。今は展示館になっていて、中の辛過ぎる展示物とは対照的に、外では桜のつぼみが。

Museum originally buit by Japan as a jail. It now exhibits how the Japanese treated Korean resistance, inmates. In contrast to the painful exhibition, cherry blossomes are about to bloom.



戦争記念館。とにかく壮大な建物で、莫大な費用が掛けられています。

音声案内器を借りれば、韓国語・日本語・英語・中国語で説明が聞けます。韓国では戦争がまだ終わっていないことを実感。

Massive war museum. You can see Korea spent a lot of money on it. If you rent an audio assisting machine, you can listen Korean/Japanese/English/Chinese explanation. I was convinced here that the war is not yet ended in Korea.

娘があっ、リス！と叫ぶので、こんな交通量の多いところに、と思ってよーく見るとなんと大きなネズミ！しかもカメラを向けて近づいても逃げない、ふてぶてしいヤツでした。

When my daughter exclaimed, "Squirrel!" I wondered how could be, because we are in front of a crossing, and it was actually a big mouse. And it was so audacious that it didn't run away even when I walked closer to it with a camera.

２日目の昼食は選択の余地がなく日本食店で。お寿司の色味が何となく日本と違うけれど、美味しかったです。何を食べてもキムチはたっぷり付きました。

For lunch on the second day, we had no choice but sushi. Its color is slightly different from sushi in Japan, but it was very delicious. No matter what we ordered, we always had a bunch of kimuchi, Korean pickle, as a side dish.

韓国での最後のおやつはクリスピー・ドーナツ。新宿では今でも２時間待ちだというのに、ソウルでは人気はありましたが、少し並んだだけで買えました。美味しかった～。

Our last snack in Soeul were Krispy Donuts. Even now we have to line for two hours to buy them in Tokyo, but here we only waited only a few minutes to eat. They were good.

ソウルで最後に食べたのは、金甫空港の食堂の海鮮チヂミ。イや～美味しかった！沖縄のヒラヤチーに似ている味なので、ヒラヤチーを作る要領で、シーフードやネギを入れて作ってみよう。

Our last supper at Gimpo International Air Port was Chijimi, Korean savory pancake with seafood. It tasted like Okinawan pancake and was so good.

宮古島台風日記

行ってきました宮古島！
でもあいにくの台風で楽しみにしていたパラセーリングも体験ダイビングも中止になり、ペルー地震の影響による津波警報のせいでどのビーチも遊泳禁止。でも雨はほとんど降らなかったので、ドライブをして写真のような青い荒波を楽しむことが出来ました。

We went to Miyakojima island as we planned for our summer vacation.
But thanks to typhoon, parasailing and orientation diving that we were all looking forward to were cancelled, and thanks again to tsunami warning due to an earthquake in Peru, we couldn't even get into the ocean. But it hardly rained, we could enjoy driving and seeing such magnificent, wild blue wave.

海に入れないならプールで泳ごうと保良川のプールへ。そのプールが本当に浜辺に近くて、ウォータースライダーをひとしきり楽しんだ後、プールサイドから台風の海を満喫することができました。

We went to a swimming pool in Boragawa since we couldn't swim in the ocean. One of the pools are so close to the beach that we could enjoy the wild blue waves from the poolside after swoop down the water slide several times.

台風の海を見つめる私。至福のときでした。全然飽きません。波打ち際も、遠くの磯も。写真では目立ちませんが、ウォータースライダーがあまりに速くて係のお兄さんに「お尻をつけると滑らないのでつけないようにして下さい」と言われていたのに何度もつけたため、パンツに大きな穴が空いています。脱ぐまで誰も気付きませんでした。下はそのプールサイドから見えた景色です。


Me watching the ocean. I never got bored. Everything including water's edge and rocky shore was so much fun to watch. It's not quite obvious in the picture, but there was a big hole in my pants because I braked the slide by my butt, though a boy guard told me not to do so. Nobody seemed to have noticed it before I took it off.

午前中プールから海、を楽しんだらお昼は宮古そば。
トッピングの上に麺が乗っているのがみ宮古ふう、なのだそうです。

After enjoying the ocean from the poolside in the afternoon, we ate Miyakosoba noodle for lunch. Noodole covering some of toppings is the Miyakojima style, they said.

これは無類の豆腐じょーぐー（豆腐好き）の私が頼んだ揚げ豆腐。揚げ豆腐の上にねぎ、オカカ、大根おろしにポン酢じょうゆが乗ってあまりにも美味しそうだったので、写真を撮るのも忘れて半分食べてしまったところ。本当に美味しかった～。

This is fried tofu that I, crazy about tofu, ordered. It looked so delicious with green onion, dried and sliced bonito, grated raddish and ponzu sauce that I forgot to take a picture. This is after I ate half of them.
