クリスマス三連休の間に、録画したソーシャル・ネットワーク を観ました。息子が録画したもので、話題作だったから期待せずに観ましたが、意外と面白かったです。主人公ザッカーバーグを演じた俳優は本人そっくりだったし、天才のオタクとはこうなんだろうなあ、という機関銃トークに説得力がありました。アカデミー主演男優賞にノミネートされたのも納得の演技ですね。 すごく嫌なヤツというわけではないのに、やってることは結果的に最低、というのが天才の天才たる所以か。人と繋がるためのSNS創設者が、その成功へと進むうちに数少ない恋人や友人を失っていく、というのが何とも皮肉で映画的でした。

During the last three-day weekend, I saw The Social Network  that my son recorded.  I just saw it just because it gained a lot of attention, and with no big expectation, but I enjoyed it very much.  The leading actor looked just like Zuckerberg himself, and his machine-gun talk convinced me that a real genius must be just like that.  No wonder he was nominated for Academy Award as the best leading actor.
It is interesting as a cinema that Zuckerberg is not a real jerk, but what he did turned real nasty as a result.  Maybe that's because he is a real genius.  It is also very ironical that as he tries to make his Facebook, a tool to connect people, successful, he looses his few girl friend and friend.

扉をたたく人 The Visitor

アカデミー賞ノミネート作品として先日テレビで放映されていました。あまり期待もせず何気なく見始めたのですが、心に沁みるいい映画でした！大スターが出演しているわけではなく、ストーリーも淡々としていて劇的ではないのですが、人間にとって大切なもの－愛や尊厳－がくっきりと浮かび上がって印象的です。 This movie, the Visitor, was broadcast on TV the other day as an Academy nominated production.  Though I didn't expect much and started to watch it casually, I was much impressed and am convinced that this is a good movie.  No big star was casted and no dramatic event happened, but what is important for human being - love and dignity -  is clearly surfaced and we can get a certain message.

レボリューショナリー・ロード Revolutionary Road

娘が去年観て良かった、というので先日観たタイタニックのカップルが夫婦役をやっているレボリューショナリー・ロード観ました。あのロマンチックなカップルの１０年後の、あまりロマンチックでない話とは思っていましたが、ここまで苦いとは。。。これを映画館で友達と、家で私と観る娘って。。。大人になったんだなあ、と実感。観てハッピーになれる映画ではないのであまりお薦めしませんが、５０年代アメリカのファッションとインテリアは楽しめます。 I watched Revolutionary Road, played by the couple in Titanic, because my daughter said it's good.  I knew it must be a not-so-romantic story of such a romantic couple 10 years later, but the movie actually is very bitter, much bitter than I imagined.  I am well convinced that my daughter is now pretty much a grownup, enjoying this kind of moving twince, once with her friend at a theater, and once with her mother at home.  As this is not a happy movie, I don't strongly recommend it, but we can enjoy 1950's American fashion and interior.

今頃タイタニック Titanic

この週末は風邪を引いてしまい、自宅で映画を観て過ごしました。まず、この間観たアバターが良かったので同じキャメロン監督のタイタニックを。何しろ３時間超の長尺なので、病気にならない限り観れません。（笑い）劇場公開当時はコマーシャルが始終流れていたし、周りも大騒ぎで観た気分になり、見そびれてしまいました。当時、長すぎ、主人公の二人が邪魔、大したことない、と割と否定的な意見を多く聞いたような気がしますが、いや～、ラブロマンスもＣＧも素直に感動しました。ヒロイン太り過ぎ、とか突っ込みどころはありますが、一見の価値あり、です。 As I caught a cold this past weekend, I stayed at home to watch movies.  First, I saw Titanic because I liked Avatar by the same director.  As this is such a long story more than 3 hours, I can see it only when I am sick.  I didn't watch it when it road-showed, because I felt I've already seen it, watching TV commercials so often and listening to other people's comments all athe time.  As I rememter, most comments were rather negative, too long, the couple is just unnecessary, CG not very good, etc.  But I enjoyed it very much as a love story and historical fiction.  I would say, it's worth watching, though there are some to be criticized, such as the heroine is fat.

嫌われ松子の一生 Memoires of Matsuko

更新が滞りがちなこの日記、なるべく頻繁に更新するため今日から観た映画の感想を書いていきたいと思います。 まずは先日娘が借りてきた嫌われ松子の一生。ものすごく暗いストーリーなのに明るく、ポップな映画。私は好きでしたねえ。音楽も良かった。日本人がやるミュージカルってどうもダサい印象があるのですが、中谷美紀は歌も踊りもまずまずで、見ごたえがありました。ミュージカル場面は音楽も映像もオシャレで素敵。個人的には、私の夢を映像化した？って思えるような色使いが好きでした。瑛太が出るから観たんだけど、瑛太以外の人がみんな好演してました（笑）。

In order to update this blog more often, I decided to write about movies I watched.
First movie is Memoires of Matsuko, a DVD my daughter rented the other day. Its story is terribly sad, yet the movie is bright and pop. I like it very much. I have an impression that Japnaese musicals are somehow ugly, but music and dance in this movie are very sophisticated and pretty. Personally, I like the tone of the movie which makes me think, "is this my dream?" I watched this movies just because Eita is in, but every actor/actress but Eita plays very well. ^_^;
